LEWISTON, Idaho ? A battle between two heavyweights occurred this evening, as No. 3 Oklahoma City defeated No. 1 Lewis-Clark State, 11-10, and advanced in the Avista NAIA Baseball World Series as one of only two undefeated teams remaining in the field.
The Stars (65-11) will face Cumberland (56-19) on Tuesday, May 31, at 7 p.m., as the Bulldogs defeated Embry-Riddle this afternoon, 12-4.
Colby Overstreet whacked the eventual game-winning hit in the sixth inning, as the junior sent a first-pitch delivery well beyond the right field fence, giving OCU the 11-7 advantage. The junior hit 2-for-5 in the contest with two runs and collected his 19th homer on the season.
Cameron Clarke led the Stars in hitting with a 4-for-5 at-bat performance. The senior added two runs and two RBIs.
Nick Klusaw ignited a five-run rally in the third with a three-run bomb, which was his 27th homer on the year, tying
Rick Nadeau (1999) for the OCU season home run record. The senior batted 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.
OCU held a 10-2 advantage until the bottom of the fifth, when
Gavin Concepcion faced a 1-1 pitch and produced a grand slam, his first homer on the year, and the Warriors (45-8) tacked on five runs in the frame, cutting the lead 10-7.
A crowd of 5,375 ? second largest in NAIA World Series history ? was on hand at Harris Field and produced an energy that also was a challenge for the Stars, as the OCU pitchers surrendered 12 walks in the game, six occurring in the final four innings.
The Stars held an 11-8 lead in the bottom of the ninth, but with two outs and facing a 1-2 count, shortstop
Justin Fuller claimed his first home run on the season, a two-run blast, that brought LCSC within a run.
The Warriors put two more runners on the base paths, and senior pitcher
Preston Simms was called upon to face
Allen Balmer, who produced the winning hit over Lee (Tenn.) last Friday night for LCSC in the bottom of the ninth. Simms forced Balmer to fly out to left field and collected his first save on the year.
Brian Mayfield got the win, improving to 5-0 this season. The relief pitcher went 3.1 innings and surrendered one hit, two runs, five walks and struck out two.
Carlos Fisher fell to 4-2 on the year. The Warriors starting pitcher recorded seven hits, six runs, three earned runs and two strikeouts in two innings.
Game Notes? OCU starting pitcher
Reed Dickert collected three strikeouts this evening, improving his season total to 100 Ks. The junior is the third Stars pitcher this season to reach the century mark, as
Mike Mlotkowski fanned 128 and
Preston Simms struck out 101 this year.
Jeff McLaughlin, who will start against Cumberland, has 94 strikeouts this season.

?
Colby Overstreet needs one more home run to reach the 20 mark and become the third OCU player to claim the feat this season ? Klusaw (27) and
