OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team picked up its second tie of the season, knotting East Central Oklahoma, 1-1 in double overtime. The Stars are now 1-1-2 on the year and handed the Tigers their first tie as their season record falls to 2-0-1.
OCU was down 1-0 until
Holly DeRousse headed a free kick pass from
Jennifer Crawford into the Tigers? goal near the 31st minute. The game went scoreless after that point as neither team capitalized on many scoring opportunities.
Jenny Cruz scored the goal for ECU at the 27th minute. The senior took a pass from
Michelle Grubbs and drove to the net with a straight-on score.
OCU led the Tigers in shots, 19-16.
Amanda Jones paced the Stars with five shots, and Cruz led ECU with four shots.
The Stars host Southern Nazarene in a non-conference game on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m.
