OCU Notebook
Previously: Oklahoma City needed some late-inning magic but completed the sweep of Southwestern Christian with wins of 6-2 and 5-4 on Saturday. Brynlee Alsip went the distance in the opener, striking out three and allowing five hits to move to 25-4. OCU had eight hits, including three by Gabby Moreno. SCU scored in each of the first three innings of the second game to take a 4-0 lead that stood up until OCU plated five runs in the fifth. Hoehner had an RBI double and Rayburn doubled in two runs to trim the lead to 4-3. Peyton Barrow doubled to tie the score. After Moreno singled Barrow to third, she intentionally got herself into a rundown and deftly avoided a tag that gave Barrow time to score the go-ahead run. Moreno and Iliana Ashford had two hits each to spearhead the OCU eight-hit offense. McKenna Snyder tossed 4.2 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

The Other Pod: USAO hosts the other pod in Chickasha. Top-seeded USAO opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday against the eighth seed, Nelson. Fourth-seeded Mid-American Christian takes on fifth-seeded Southwestern Christian at 1 p.m.
