OKLAHOMA CITY – Eli Davis topped three Oklahoma City University players on the all-Sooner Athletic Conference baseball team.
Davis snared the SAC pitcher of the year and the all-conference first team for the second year in a row. The Stars' Trent Kiraly reeled in second-team all-SAC, while Davis and Aiden Alexander collected league gold glove awards.
Davis rates among the nation's leaders in earned run average and strikeouts this season. Davis, a senior left-hander from Shawnee, Okla., majoring in criminal justice, ranks third with a 1.86 ERA and second with 118 strikeouts. Davis has turned in a 10-2 record and four complete games in 87 innings pitched. He struck out 10 or more batters four times, including a season-high 14 in a one-hit complete-game shutout of Panhandle State on March 25. Davis, a preseason NAIA all-American, collected two SAC hurler of the week accolades. He has a 1.000 fielding percentage.
In two years with the Stars, Davis has gone 19-3 with a 1.67 ERA and 213 strikeouts in 161.1 innings pitched. Davis nabbed second-team all-American last year and is a three-time SAC pitcher of the week.
Kiraly has provided OCU with a .396 average, 14 home runs, 59 RBIs, 13 doubles and 67 hits. Kiraly, a junior from Farmington, N.M., studying finance, pounded two homers and drove in seven runs at Texas Wesleyan on March 31. Kiraly took three conference player of the week honors.
Alexander has made only three errors in 88 chances for a .966 fielding percentage this season. Alexander, a freshman outfielder from Yukon, Okla., majoring in exercise science, has put together a .283 average with 19 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, seven doubles and a triple.
