DALLAS – Oklahoma City University opens the 2022-23 STUNT season against Dallas Baptist at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the Burg Center.
Oklahoma City has games set against Concordia (Calif.) at 1:45 p.m. and Texas Tyler at 3 p.m. Friday also at Dallas Baptist.
Four Stars made the 2021-22 College STUNT Coaches Association all-America team with two all-Americans back this season. OCU's returning all-Americans are Rebekah Sewell and Olivia Williams.
OCU reached the NAIA College STUNT Nationals in April in Rocklin, Calif., last season. Karly Judkins guided the Stars to a national runner-up finish in 2020-21.
"The team is looking forward to kicking off our STUNT season at Dallas Baptist University," Judkins said. "Our goal this week is to showcase the hard work everyone put in this fall as we compete in some of the toughest season openers we've had yet. I am optimistic that we will accomplish many personal and team goals in these first three games and that it will be a good start to the season."
Oklahoma City hosts a three-day STUNT tournament March 3-5 at Moore Brink in Moore, Okla.
STUNT is a head-to-head competition between two teams. STUNT is the fastest growing female sport at the collegiate and high school level.
Teams perform the same routines against the opposing team, and scores are based purely on execution. Each contest features four quarters. The teams showcase different disciplines each quarter – partner stunts in the first quarter, pyramids and tosses in the second period, jumps and tumbling in the third and a team routine in the fourth.
