OCU takes on defending national champion Vanguard

Stars test themselves against top STUNT competition at home

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University squares off with defending national champion Vanguard (Calif.) during a set of STUNT competitions taking place at Abe Lemons Arena this weekend. 

Oklahoma City stages a rematch of the NAIA STUNT title bout 5 p.m. Friday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars came up short to Vanguard for the national championship 12-9 on April 24 in St. Louis.  

OCU (3-3) faces Missouri Baptist at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars toppled Missouri Baptist 17-2 on April 23 on their way to meeting Vanguard in the national title contest.  

The Stars have six games set this weekend. OCU will honor its seniors at the conclusion of competition Saturday approximately 5:30 p.m. Competition begins 4 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. All games will be broadcast over the OCU Sports Network. 

STUNT is a head-to-head competition between two teams. STUNT is the fastest growing female sport at the collegiate and high school level.

Teams perform the same routines against the opposing team, and scores are based purely on execution. Each contest features four quarters. The teams showcase different disciplines each quarter – partner stunts in the first quarter, pyramids and tosses in the second period, jumps and tumbling in the third and a team routine in the fourth.
