OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University extended its winning streak to 16 games with a 13-1 non-conference win over Sterling (Kan.) on Tuesday afternoon at Jim Wade Stadium.

The hard-hitting Stars, ranked sixth in NAIA baseball, have now scored 10-plus runs in five of the last six games and nine times overall.

OCU (21-1) scored four runs on two hits and four Sterling errors in the bottom of the second inning. Sterling errors allowed the first two runs to score. Senior shortstop
Darian Luper then delivered a RBI double to push the lead to 3-0 before senior center fielder
Cross Factor drove a RBI triple to left field to increase the lead to 4-0.

Tristan Williams pushed the lead to 5-0 with a RBI double down the left field line in the third inning.

The Stars put the game away with a five-run fourth inning to build an double-digit  lead. Factor and senior first baseman
Peyton Crispin got the scoring started in the frame with RBI singles before senior
Evan Maun delivered his fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot to left, to increase the lead to 10-0.

OCU capped off its scoring with three runs, two of them unearned, in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Stars finished with 12 hits spread over nine batters. Factor lead the way with three hits with Luper finishing with two hits.

Isaac Horstman (2-0) earned the win in a relief role after allowing no runs on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 1.2 innings of work. He entered the game with one out in the fourth inning and runners on first and second base, ending the threat on back-to-back strikeouts.

Travis Herriott closed-out the win with two innings in relief. Combined they struck out three batters with no walks, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits.
