OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dispatched of Langston 25-9, 25-20, 25-16 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Rylee Steward led Oklahoma City with 12 kills. The Stars moved to 12-11, 10-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Steward, a junior from Edmond, Okla., reached double figures in kills for the fourth consecutive match. Ruby Kelley, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., produced eight kills and 12 digs, while Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., accumulated 19 assists and six digs for the Stars.
Cassidy DeShong, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, posted 16 assists and five digs, and Kaitlyn Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, put together 18 digs.
OCU's Michela De Stefano, a sophomore from Rome, contributed seven kills, six digs and two aces, while Catelyn Vargas, a senior from Lubbock, Texas, chipped in seven kills and two blocks.
Steward capped an 8-0 run by smacking a kill to give the Stars a 16-5 advantage in the first set.
In the third set, De Stefano pounded a pair of kills to spark a 5-0 run that put OCU on top 12-7.
Oklahoma City faces Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas), ranked ninth in the NAIA, at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 in Waxahachie, Texas.
