WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University dropped its contest against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 22-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-11 on Friday night at the Sheaffer Center.
Ruby Kelley provided Oklahoma City with a team-high 12 kills. The Stars went to 12-12, 10-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Southwestern Assemblies of God, ranked eighth in NAIA volleyball, remained undefeated on the year with a 25-0 record and 17-0 league mark.
The Stars had won their past three matches. Southwestern Assemblies of God's last eight wins were by straight sets.
Kelley, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., posted 10 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Kaitlyn Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, reached 20 digs for the eighth time this season with 20 digs.
Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., supplied the Stars with her seventh double-double with 21 assists and 13 digs, while Cassidy DeShong, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, dished out 15 assists. Gabrielle Fjeseth, a sophomore from Moore, Okla., added seven kills.
The Stars erased a 7-2 deficit to take the first set. OCU moved in front 21-18 with six consecutive points as Fjeseth had two kills and teamed with Catelyn Vargas on a block.
OCU squares off with 23rd-ranked Texas Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.
