OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to Mid-America Christian 25-27, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17 on Tuesday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Ruby Kelley supplied OCU with a team-high 15 kills. The Stars went to 9-11, 7-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Kelley, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., posted her sixth double-double of the season with 15 digs and three blocks. Catelyn Vargas, a senior from Lubbock, Texas, turned in 12 kills and six blocks.
Oklahoma City's Kaitlyn Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, numbered 23 digs, and Rylee Steward, a junior from Edmond, Okla., chipped in 11 kills and two blocks. Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., tallied 22 assists and 10 digs, while Cassidy DeShong, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, totaled 21 assists and six digs.
In the first set, OCU responded after Mid-America Christian had set point at 24-23. The Stars rallied with three of the last four points of the set. Vargas smacked a kill to even the score 24-24. Gabrielle Fjeseth added a solo block for the go-ahead point.
The Stars take on Science & Arts at 6 p.m. Thursday in Chickasha, Okla.
