PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University dropped a 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 decision to Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Saturday at the Hutcherson Center.
Ruby Kelley topped the Stars with 11 kills. OCU fell to 8-9, 6-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Kelley, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., also had seven digs and three blocks. Kaitlyn Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, accumulated 19 digs.
Oklahoma City's Cassidy DeShong, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, turned in 17 assists and four digs, while Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., collected 17 assists and five digs.
Rylee Steward, a junior from Edmond, Okla., supplied the Stars with eight kills and two blocks, and Emma Nickerson, a junior from Frisco, Texas, contributed seven kills.
In the third set, Oklahoma City pulled even with Wayland Baptist 23-23 after Kelley smacked a pair of kills. Wayland Baptist countered with the final two points as Alexa Hinojos had a kill.
OCU faces Southwestern Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany, Okla.
