OCU plays once more at Hall of Fame Stadium

Hall of Fame Stadium served as OCU's home field from 1993-2007

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will return to the nation's premier softball facility for the Red Dirt Classic hosted by Langston this weekend at Hall of Fame Stadium.
Hall of Fame Stadium served as Oklahoma City's home ballpark from 1993-2007 until Ann Lacy Stadium was built before the 2008 season. Hall of Fame Stadium hosted the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament until 2013, and the NAIA Championships occurred at Hall of Fame Stadium in 1988.
The tournament will feature three teams ranked among the NAIA – No. 2 USAO, No. 4 Oklahoma City and No. 20 Morningside (Iowa). The Stars are scheduled to square off with Morningside at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets to the Red Dirt Classic are $15 or $25 for a two-day pass. USA Softball is limiting fan attendance at the tournament to 25 percent of the facility's capacity (1,500). Video coverage will be offered of every game.
The Stars' most previous game at Hall of Fame Stadium was May 4, 2013, when Lubbock Christian (Texas) won 6-5 for the SAC Tournament championship. OCU secured the SAC regular-season title with its last regular-season games at Hall of Fame Stadium on April 26, 2007, when the Stars prevailed 2-1, 4-1 over St. Gregory's.
Hall of Fame Stadium has regularly hosted the NCAA Women's College World Series since 1990 and is set to happen in Oklahoma City until 2035. Other major softball events that have taken place at Hall of Fame Stadium include the World Cup of Softball, the Border Battle, the USA Softball 18U GOLD National Championship and the USA Softball Slow Pitch Championship Series. The facility has underwent extensive modernizations over the years.
The weather forecast calls for high temperatures in the 50s and 60s this weekend. The chance for rain Friday is 40-60 percent.
