Heffernan tops OCU in J.K. Gold Classic

Three Stars finish among top 20

Macey Currie finished among the top 20 Saturday.

AUGUSTA, Kan. – Elizabeth Heffernan from Oklahoma City University turned in a top-10 finish in the J.K. Gold Classic women's cross country race hosted by Wichita State on Saturday at the 4 Mile Creek Resort.
Heffernan, a freshman from Bentonville, Ark., completed the 5K in 18 minutes, 53.84 seconds. Oklahoma City finished behind NCAA Division I squads Wichita State and Cincinnati. The race was staged in cold weather with temperatures in the upper 30s.
The Stars' Jacinda Kwambai, a sophomore from Kapsowar City, Kenya, recorded a time of 19:30.35, good for 16th place. Macey Currie, a junior from Oklahoma City, crossed the finish in 19:57.11 to be 17th.
Sharon Koima, a freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, had a 20:57.83, while Ana Rivera ran the race in 22:10.58 for OCU. Cailen Jolley produced a time of 22:54.20. Jolley and Rivera also ran in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on Friday.
