Heffernan leads OCU in Red River Shootout

Freshman finishes second in first race for OCU

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Oklahoma City University's Kaitlyn Heffernan finished second place Thursday at the Red River Cross Country Shootout at River Creek Golf Course.
Heffernan, a freshman from Bentonville, Ark., recorded a time of 19 minutes and 39.6 seconds in her debut for the Stars, ranked 24th in NAIA women's cross country.
Heffernan finished 12.9 seconds behind first-place finisher Amerhyst Aguirre of Midwestern State (Texas) in the field of 34 runners. She beat out third-place finisher Delaney Locke of Midwestern State by 3.3 seconds.
Oklahoma City freshman Cailen Jolley, of Pauls Valley, Okla., ran a 21:36.8 to finish 18th. Bailey Sartain, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., completed the 5,000-meter race with a time of 28:33.6.
The Stars will return to action in the NAIA Mid-States Classic on Oct. 26 in Winfield, Kan.
