OCU STUNT opens season with wins over Independence, Texas-Tyler

Stars take two of three games on Sunday

MOORE, Okla. – The Oklahoma City University STUNT team opened its season with a pair of wins on Sunday at Brink Junior High, defeating Independence (Kan.) 14-1 and Texas-Tyler 15-7.
In its first game, OCU took a 2-0 lead against Independence after partner stunts then extended its lead to 5-0 after notching three more points in pyramids and tosses. The Stars took an 8-1 lead to the final quarter after jumps and tumbling and rolled to a 14-1 victory after earning six points in the combined routines.
Oklahoma City suffered its only loss of the day in its second game against Alma (Mich.) 20-6. The Stars trailed 8-1 after partner stunts and pyramids and tosses, then got three points in jumps and tumbling but were still behind by seven. OCU was then outscored 9-2 in the combined routines.
The Stars bounced back in the final game against Texas-Tyler with a 15-7 win. The two teams were tied at two after partner stunts, then OCU took a 5-3 lead into halftime after outscoring the Patriots 3-1 in pyramids and tosses. The Stars rolled in jumps and tumbling and combined routines, outscoring Texas-Tyler 10-4 in the final two quarters.
Oklahoma City competes next on April 13 against Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist at Abe Lemons Arena.
