Ellis, Meador give OCU sweep of league awards for first time in 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY – Madison Ellis and Abby Meador took Sooner Athletic Conference softball player of the week honors to give top-ranked Oklahoma City University both weekly league nods for March 27-April 2.
Ellis, a senior from Yukon, Okla., collected her second SAC player of the week honor, while Meador, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., snared her eighth career conference pitcher of the week accolade. OCU reeled in both SAC player of the week awards for the first time since April 18-24, 2016.
Ellis hit home runs in both ends of the Stars' doubleheader sweep of St. Gregory's on March 28 in Shawnee, Okla., as OCU improved to 36-0 on the season. Ellis went 3-for-6 with three runs scored, a double and six RBIs in the two games at the Ballfields at Firelake.
On the year, Ellis ranks third in doubles (15) and total bases (102), fourth in slugging percentage (.981) and fifth in RBIs (49) among the NAIA. Ellis is hitting .490 with 10 home runs.
Meador posted the whitewash of St. Gregory's in the 12-0 nightcap Tuesday. Meador struck out seven while holding St. Gregory's to one hit and two walks in five innings.
On the season, Meador holds a 13-0 record, 0.74 earned run average, nine complete games, four shutouts and 80 strikeouts in 66 innings. She ranks second with a .128 opponents' batting average and seventh in ERA in the NAIA.
