Stars' Miller notches NAIA player of week

Senior from Blanchard, Okla., gives SAC back-to-back NAIA players of week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Leslie Miller from Oklahoma City University has garnered NAIA softball player of the week for April 11-17.
Miller, a senior pitcher-designated player from Blanchard, Okla., became the first Star to be NAIA softball player of the week since LeeAnn Lopez for March 26-April 1, 2012.
The Sooner Athletic Conference boasts of the past two NAIA softball player of the week award winners after St. Gregory's Ashli Hafford took the honor for April 4-10.
Anthony Marchesani was the last OCU athlete in any sport to gain NAIA player of the week when he was golfer of the week for March 23-29, 2015.
Miller hit .571 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, a 1.429 slugging percentage and eight hits in 14 at-bats during the past week. Miller went 4-for-6 with two homers, three runs scored and six runs driven in as No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City swept No. 2 St. Gregory's 11-2, 11-0 on April 12 at Ann Lacy Stadium. For her performance, Miller took SAC player of the week for the second time this season.
On the year, Miller has produced a .408 batting average, 13 doubles, 13 homers and 66 RBIs. She leads the NAIA in RBIs and ranks sixth in homers. OCU tops the NAIA with 59 homers.
The Stars (48-1, 19-1 SAC) face Mid-America Christian in a 2 p.m. twin bill Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium. See the game live.
