OKLAHOMA CITY – Bailey Whitmore of Oklahoma City University collected Sooner Athletic Conference's softball player of the week for Feb. 15-21.
Whitmore, a freshman from Oklahoma City, went 13-for-23 (.565) in a stretch of games that saw OCU go 8-0, outscoring its opponents 92-10. She tallied eight runs, three doubles, two home runs, two walks and nine RBIs.
She hit her first collegiate home run against Panhandle State on Friday, while stroking her second one vs. Bethany (Kan.) on Saturday in the Mansfield Softball Bash in Mansfield, Texas. Oklahoma City, ranked sixth in the NAIA, improved to 13-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
On the season, Whitmore has a .514 batting average, 18 hits, five doubles, two homers and 16 RBIs.
The Stars play in the February N Fayetteville Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. OCU's doubleheader against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) originally scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to 2 p.m. March 9 in Waxahachie, Texas.
