OCU rowers make U.S. World University Games team

Seven Stars, OCU coach to represent United States in South Korea

OKLAHOMA CITY – Several Oklahoma City University rowers will represent the United States in the World University Games on July 3-5 in South Korea.
The U.S. team held its selection camp at the Oklahoma River. The World University Games is second only in size and scope to the Olympic Games. Rowing was selected as one of the optional sports to be contested in addition to the 13 traditional sports.
Among the OCU men, Stephen George, a senior from Indianapolis, will compete in sculling. Baruch Price, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., will be on the U.S. sweep teams, while Hadzo Habibovic will serve as coxswain for the men's eight.
From the OCU women, Sara Coleman, a junior from Waynesville, Mo., has been chosen for the open weight sweep squad, while Liz Mathews, a senior from Wichita, Kan., will compete in the open weight sculling along with teammate Kayla Yraceburu, a senior from Camas, Wash. Leigh Smith will represent the United States in the lightweight sculling for Liza Dickson, the OCU coach who will also guide the U.S. women.
Nine thousand athletes will be expected to compete over the 12-day World University Games.
