Stars top St. Gregory’s 10-2, advance to SAC Tournament final

OCU faces Mid-America Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University toppled St. Gregory's 10-2 Friday in the final day of pool play in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at Ann Lacy Stadium.
 OCU, ranked No. 17 in NAIA softball, outhit the sixth-ranked Lady Cavaliers 10-2 in the game and finished pool play unbeaten. The Stars, now 48-11 overall, will advance to the SAC Tournament championship game against Mid-America Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Kylee Rounsaville put OCU on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a two-RBI double down the left-field line. Jamie Rateliff brought another run home with a sacrifice fly to left. Emily Krienke scored on a double steal to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Stars.
Later in the top of the first, Amanda Ingram singled up the middle of the infield and drove in a run. Maxime van Dalen scored on a throwing error to cap the inning and give OCU a 6-0 advantage.
Krienke drove in Cheyanne Terry in the top of the second and pushed the score to 7-0. Rateliff followed with an RBI single to left that stretched the OCU lead to 8-0.
Whitney Anderson blasted a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the fourth and cut the Stars' lead to 8-2.
OCU responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth and extended the lead to 10-2. Kyndra Holasek singled through the left side of the infield and plated Kayley Humann. Holasek later scored from second on Terry's infield single.
Danielle Fox retired the St. Gregory's side in order in the bottom of the fifth and handed the Stars the 10-2 run-rule victory. Fox allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts and improved to 17-3 with the win.
Rateliff and Rounsaville led the Stars at the dish with two RBIs apiece.
The Stars will look to capture their 17th SAC Tournament title at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
