OCU set to host SAC softball tournament

Stars open SAC Tournament play vs. Texas Wesleyan at 11 a.m. Thursday

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University is set to take on Texas Wesleyan at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium in the Sooner Athletic Conference softball tournament.
The Stars, ranked No. 17 in NAIA softball, will also square off against Southwestern Christian at 4 p.m. Thursday and No. 6 St. Gregory's at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the SAC Tournament at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The SAC Tournament title game will take place 1 p.m. Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium featuring the pool-play winners. Pool play will be Thursday and Friday at both OCU and Oklahoma Baptist.
Ann Lacy Stadium hosts other pool-play games between St. Gregory's and Southwestern Christian at 1:30 p.m., and St. Gregory's vs. Texas Wesleyan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Texas Wesleyan and Southwestern Christian will play at 1 p.m. Friday.
OCU has captured 16 SAC Tournament championships in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Lubbock Christian (Texas) edged the Stars 6-5 in the 2013 SAC Tournament championship game.
The Stars' offense ranks in the top 10 in NAIA softball in five statistical categories including third in runs batted in (357) fourth in total runs scored (414).
Kyndra Holasek leads OCU with a .505 batting average. The sophomore shortstop from Mustang, Okla., is tops in the NAIA in hits (89) and total bases (153). Holasek has driven in 55 runs with 19 doubles and 10 home runs and has stolen a team-high 26 bases.
Kylee Rounsaville is the team leader in RBIs with 57. The junior catcher from Yukon, Okla., ranks 10th in the NAIA in total RBIs (57) and 14th in RBIs per game (1.21). Rounsaville is hitting .315 with 15 doubles and eight home runs.
The OCU pitching staff is ranked 15th in NAIA softball in opponent's batting average (.212) and earned run average (1.82) and 17th in total strikeouts (280).
Danielle Fox leads OCU in strikeouts per game (7.2) and total strikeouts (117). The senior righty from Yukon, Okla., owns a record of 15-3 with an ERA of 1.72 in 114 innings pitched. Fox holds opposing batters to a batting average of just .174.
Jamie Rateliff is second on the team with an ERA of 1.60. The junior from Mustang, Okla., is 11-2 on the season with 33 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched. Rateliff is also hitting .344 with 41 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, 12 doubles and five home runs.
