Stars split doubleheader with Texas Wesleyan

OCU wins season series with Lady Rams 3-1

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University split a doubleheader with Texas Wesleyan Friday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 2 in NAIA softball, were shut out by the Lady Rams in the first game 9-0 but responded with an 8-0 victory in the nightcap. The split moved OCU to 28-6 overall and 11-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Starting pitcher Maria Gomez surrendered three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings. Jamie Rateliff tossed four innings of relief and gave up three earned runs on four hits. Maci-Brooke Lambert pitched the final third of an inning for the Stars.
Kylee Rounsaville singled up the middle and drove in Kyndra Holasek from second base to give OCU a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game No. 2.
In the bottom of the second, Hoalsek singled to center field and drove in Emily Krienke and Danielle Fox to stretch the OCU lead to 3-0.
RBI base hits from Jocelin Diaz and Krienke increased the Stars' lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third.
Holasek slugged a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth and pushed the OCU lead to 6-0.
Rounsaville clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth and gave the Stars the 8-0 victory.
Fox struck out nine in six scoreless innings of work and improved to 7-1 on the season.
Hoalsek went 4-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Stars at the dish. Rounsaville went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs of her own.
The Stars will return to action in a noon doubleheader against Northwood (Texas) Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
