Stars take David Fillmore Memorial Tournament

OCU wins tournament 3-0 against Evangel

Kyndra Holasek hit her fourth home run of the year and second homer of the weekend Saturday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Oklahoma City University won the David Fillmore Memorial Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Evangel (Mo.) in the championship Saturday at the Cooper Complex.
OCU also beat Culver-Stockton (Mo.) 8-2 on Saturday. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA softball, moved to 25-1 and padded their win streak to 21.
Kyndra Holasek's two-run home run propelled the Stars to a three-run third inning and the victory against host Evangel. Also in the third, Kylee Rounsaville reached on an error after she nailed a fly ball into left-center field. Jamie Rateliff's single to left brought Rounsaville around to score.
Danielle Fox shut out Evangel on two hits while striking out six in seven innings. Fox, a senior from Yukon, Okla., escaped a bases-loaded jam by fanning two. Fox improved to 6-0.
Against Culver-Stockton, Holasek, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Maxime van Dalen, a freshman from Heerhugowaard, Netherlands, was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Amanda Ingram, a redshirt freshman from Oklahoma City, was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Maria Gomez pitched 5.1 innings and struck out two to improve to 11-0 on the year. Rateliff, a junior from Mustang, Okla., entered with the score 3-2 and completed the final 1.2 innings to collect a save.
OCU takes on Abilene Christian in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday in Abilene, Texas.
