OCU blanks Graceland 20-0, 13-0

Stars collect 10th consecutive win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University demolished Graceland (Iowa) 20-0, 13-0 on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars pounded 30 hits in the doubleheader sweep. OCU, ranked third in NAIA softball, improved to 14-1 with its 10th consecutive victory.
In the first game, OCU erupted for nine runs in the second inning. Kyndra Holasek nailed an RBI single to center field to give the Stars a 4-0 advantage. Maxime van Dalen and Jamie Rateliff added run-scoring base hits.
Jocelin Diaz cleared the bases with a three-run double to left-center. Diaz reached home plate on a wild pitch.
Amanda Ingram pushed the Stars' advantage to 11-0 with an RBI triple to right, then scored on a passed ball.
Diaz, a junior from Maracay, Venezuela, hammered a grand slam in the fourth, drove in eight runs and finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored for OCU. Rateliff, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Holasek, Kylee Rounsaville and Cheyanne Terry scored three times each, while Holasek, Terry, van Dalen and Emily Krienke each had a pair of hits. Holasek had a triple, and Diaz and Krienke nailed doubles.
Maria Gomez improved to 6-0. Gomez, a junior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, blanked Graceland in five innings on two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.
In the second game, the Stars exploded for nine runs in the first. Holasek and Kayley Humann each had two-run doubles.
Holasek, Humann and van Dalen knocked in two runs each. Danielle Fox and Rateliff hit safely twice each, and Holasek scored three runs. Rateliff and Rounsaville had two runs scored each.
Maci-Brooke Lambert benefited from the offensive output to improve to 2-1. Lambert, a junior from Healdton, Okla., permitted two hits and three walks in five innings.
OCU faces Mid-America Christian in a 2 p.m. road twin bill Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
