Stars upend Grace 4-1

Worsham records hat trick, OCU improves to 2-2

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University routed Grace (Ind.) 4-1 Friday in the opening match of the John Brown Classic at Alumni Field.
The Stars, ranked No.12 in NAIA women's soccer, got a hat trick from sophomore Allison Worsham and ran past Grace to improve to 2-2 on the young season.
Margaret Lee put OCU on top early in the first half when she beat Grace goalkeeper Carmen Barnhill in the eighth minute to make the score 1-0.
Grace answered in the 22nd minute when Meredith Hollar scored off a missed shot to even the match at 1-1.
In the 32nd minute, Meghan McMahon found Worsham with a pass. Worsham headed the ball past Barnhill and scored to give OCU a 2-1 advantage.
Worsham struck again in the 39th minute when she beat the Grace defense and scored to give the Stars a 3-1 lead at halftime.
In the 56th minute, Worsham completed the hat trick when she scored her fourth goal of the season and sealed the 4-1 victory for OCU.
Senior goalkeeper Alissa Reed played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars and made three saves.
OCU will return to action in the second day of the John Brown Classic against Bellevue (Neb.) at noon Saturday at Alumni Field in Siloam Springs, Ark.
