OCU routs Hastings 6-1

Rateliff takes no-hitter into seventh inning for Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University cruised past Hastings (Neb.) 6-1 on Monday at Ann Lacy Stadium in the NAIA Softball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket.
Jamie Rateliff boosted the fourth-ranked Stars by tossing a one-hitter, carrying a no-hitter until one out in the seventh inning. OCU (48-12) takes on Bellevue (Neb.) at noon Tuesday.
Rateliff, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., allowed one run on one hit and four walks while striking out two in seven innings. Rateliff improved to 22-3 while posting her 18th complete game in 25 starts this year.
Hastings went down in order the first two innings before Rateliff walked Kelsey Hoehler. Rateliff retired 10 batters in a row from the third to the sixth.
In the seventh, Rateliff walked two batters before Candice Connolly broke up the no-hit bid with an RBI single to left.
Kyndra Holasek put OCU ahead 6-0 in the sixth. Holasek socked a double to the left-center gap to score Tori Joyner from second base.
The Stars jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning advantage. Drew Wright ripped an RBI base hit beyond first base, bringing in Joyner from third. Rateliff smacked a two-run triple to right-center to put OCU up 3-0.
Holasek added an RBI single in the second before Angela Lovelady knocked in another run with a base hit to left in the third.
Rateliff went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Holasek, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Emily Krienke, a sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Joyner, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 1-for-1 with two runs scored and two stolen bases, including her 50th of the year.
