Stars open SAC Tournament against Mid-America Christian

OCU enters the 2013 Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed

OCU finished the regular season with an overall-record of 44-10.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will open play in the Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Tournament vs. Mid-America Christian at 11 a.m. Friday at Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament after posting a 44-10 overall record and finishing 20-4 in SAC play. OCU will play either St. Gregory's or USAO at 3 p.m. Friday.
OCU has captured SAC Tournament titles in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The Stars are led at the plate by senior LeeAnn Lopez. The first baseman from Grand Prairie, Texas, owns a .370 batting average with 18 home runs and leads the SAC and the NAIA with 76 RBIs on the season.
Jamie Rateliff anchors OCU in the circle. The sophomore from Mustang, Okla., is 19-2 on the season with a 2.04 earned run average, 50 strikeouts and three saves.
Mid-America Christian went 10-32 overall and 0-22 in SAC play to receive the No. 7 seed in the tournament.
