Stars top Oklahoma Baptist 6-0, 4-3

OCU outhit the Lady Bison 17-12 and improved to 33-7 overall and 10-1 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University swept a doubleheader with Oklahoma Baptist 6-0, 4-3 Friday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 9 in NAIA softball, got three RBIs from Kyndra Holasek in the first game and a two-run home run from Drew Wright in the second game to improve to 33-7 on the season and 9-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Holasek put the Stars on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when she doubled to left-center field and plated Tori Joyner. Later in the inning, Holasek scored on a wild pitch and made the score 2-0.
OCU plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the second when Shelbi Legg singled up the middle and brought Angela Lovelady and Jamie Rateliff around to score.
Holasek capped the scoring with a double to left center in the bottom of the fourth to plate Joyner and Legg and make the OCU lead 6-0.
Rateliff allowed just five hits and shut down the Lady Bison offense to get the win and move to 12-0 on the season. The sophomore from Mustang, Okla., struck out two and notched her eighth complete game.
Hoalsek went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Stars at the dish. Legg drove in two runs.
Oklahoma Baptist jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Noelle McDowell and Kenna Self each notched a sacrifice fly to give the Lady Bison the early lead.
OCU responded with three runs in the bottom of the first. LeeAnn Lopez singled to move Holasek to third base where she scored on an error. Wright followed with a two-run home run to right center to make the score 3-2.
In the top of the third, Oklahoma Baptist's Kasey Maddox tied the score at 3-3 with a solo home run to left.
Krienke scored the go-ahead run on a Lady Bison error in the bottom of the fourth to give OCU a 4-3 lead.
Rachel Penner struck out five the last 10 batters she faced to give the Stars the 4-3 victory.
Penner tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief and picked up the win to move to 5-2. Krienke started and allowed three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings.
Wright drove in a pair runs to lead OCU at the plate.
The Stars will return to action in a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Oklahoma Baptist Saturday at Lady Bison Softball Field in Shawnee, Okla.
