OCU sweeps William Woods 8-3, 15-10

Stars rack up 31 hits in doubleheader Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLAREMORE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University posted 8-3, 15-10 wins over William Woods (Mo.) on Saturday at the Hillcat Complex.
LeeAnn Lopez drove in the winning run in each game for OCU (2-1). Elizabeth Oberst picked up both wins for the Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball.
In the first game, OCU rallied from a 3-0 second-inning hole. After scoring twice in the third, Lopez swatted a two-run base hit to give the Stars the lead for good.
OCU extended its lead to 7-3 as Angela Lovelady cranked a two-run home run, her first of the year. Lovelady, a senior from El Cajon, Calif., finished 2-for-5 in the game, while Kyndra Holasek, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4 with a double.
Oberst worked the final 5.1 innings. The senior from Benecia, Calif., struck out two for her first victory of the season.
In the second game, OCU erased a 10-9 deficit with six runs in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Holasek tied the game with an RBI double. Lopez, a senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, followed with a run-scoring base hit, while Lovelady tacked on an RBI double of her own.
OCU posted 18 hits. Kayley Humann was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a double and a homer, and Lopez went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double for the Stars. Jamie Rateliff was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Lovelady went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run driven in. Holasek was 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
Oberst finished in the circle, fanning two in the final two innings.
The Stars face Ottawa (Kan.) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
