OCU's LaVelle snags SAC pitcher of week

LaVelle grabs her 11th career honor from SAC

Lily LaVelle leads the NAIA with 25 wins and 282 strikeouts.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City's Lily LaVelle picked up Sooner Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week distinction for April 2-8.
LaVelle, a senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., has been chosen SAC pitcher of the week six times in eight chances this season. She owns 10 SAC pitcher of the week awards in her Stars career.
LaVelle was 2-0 with wins over Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 11 St. Gregory's. She struck out 16 batters in 10 innings of work and carried a 0.70 earned run average.
On the season, LaVelle has gone 25-1 with a 1.20 ERA, 16 complete games, six shutouts, 282 strikeouts in 158 innings pitched. She leads the SAC in ERA and strikeouts per game (16.06).
The Stars, ranked fourth in the NAIA, take on Friends (Kan.) in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
