LaVelle of Stars honored as SAC pitcher of week

Senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., takes SAC pitcher of week for second consecutive week

Lily LaVelle stands four strikeouts shy of her single-season OCU record.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City's Lily LaVelle garnered Sooner Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week for April 23-29.
LaVelle picked up her eighth SAC pitcher of the week honor in the 11 weeks the league has awarded softball players of the week this season. She has earned SAC pitcher of the week 12 times and SAC player of the week once in her OCU career.
LaVelle, a senior pitcher from Bridge Creek, Okla., struck out 53 batters in 25.1 innings while allowing a single unearned run. She was 4-0 with a save and allowed just nine hits.
On the year, LaVelle has posted a 32-2 record, 0.97 earned run average, 21 complete games, nine shutouts, six saves and 387 strikeouts in 210 innings pitched. She leads the NAIA in strikeouts.
The Stars, ranked third in the NAIA, take on Rogers State in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium in OCU's home finale this year.
