OCU's LaVelle named SAC pitcher of the week

LaVelle struck out 19 and shutout West Texas A&M

Lily LaVelle struck out 19 against West Texas A&M March 6.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Lily LaVelle has been named Sooner Athletic Conference softball co-pitcher of the week for March 5-11.
LaVelle shared the honor with USAO's Elizabeth Agpallo. The senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., earned her third straight pitcher of the week award this season and seventh of her career. 
LaVelle struck out 19 hitters in a two-hit shutout of West Texas A&M, ranked second in NCAA Division II, on March 6. The 19 strikeouts is the third-highest total in NAIA history.
LaVelle is 9-1 on the season with a 1.04 earned run average, 135 total strikeouts and three saves in 67 innings.
The third-ranked Stars (15-2) will hit the road for a 5 p.m. doubleheader against Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday in Shawnee, Okla. Click here for live stats.
