OCU's LaVelle picked SAC softball pitcher of week

Senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., takes her fifth SAC hurler of week award

Lily LaVelle threw the seventh and eighth no-hitters of her OCU career last weekend.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City pitcher Lily LaVelle has been named Sooner Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week for Feb. 20-26.
LaVelle, a senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., threw back-to-back no-hitters against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) and No. 10 Houston-Victoria. She was 3-1 with a save on the week with a 0.94 earned run average. She struck out 35 batters in 22.1 innings of work.
On the year, LaVelle is 5-1 with a 0.79 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.
The Stars, ranked third in the NAIA, face Mid-America Christian in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday on the road. OCU is 8-1 this season.
