Stars take two in St. Gregory's Invitational

Third-ranked OCU no-hits Our Lady of the Lake 8-0, trounces Bellevue 10-1

LeeAnn Lopez had four hits, four runs driven in and her third home run of the season Friday.
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Lily LaVelle fired her seventh career no-hitter in Oklahoma City University's 8-0 win over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Friday at Oran Good Park.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA softball, also knocked off Bellevue (Neb.) 10-1 on Friday. OCU moved to 6-1 this year.
LaVelle, a senior from Bridge Creek, Okla., struck out eight in five innings against Our Lady of the Lake. LaVelle improved to 4-1 on the year.
Haley Anderson pounded her second home run of the year for the Stars. Anderson, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.
LeeAnn Lopez, a junior from Grand Prairie, Texas, drove in two runs while going 1-for-3 with a triple. Katie Proffitt, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., was 1-for-2 and socked a double.
Against Bellevue, Anderson nailed her second and third homers of the year. Anderson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
LaVelle scored three times with two RBIs while going 1-for-2. Lopez went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
A.J. Woodward notched her first victory of the season. Woodward, a senior from Menifee, Calif., fanned four in five innings.
OCU takes on Houston-Victoria at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the St. Gregory's Invitational.
