Stars pound Lubbock Christian 6-1

OCU got multiple goals from Sheridan Horner, Meghan McMahon and Allison Worsham to improve to 13-1

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pounded Lubbock Christian (Texas) 6-1 Thursday at Stars Field.
The win marked OCU coach Brian Harvey's 675th career win. Harvey has the most combined men's and women's wins of any NAIA soccer coach with a record of 676-245-53.
OCU, ranked No. 8 in NAIA women's soccer, got two goals apiece from senior Sheridan Horner, junior Meghan McMahon and freshman Allison Worsham to move to 13-1 overall on the season and  improve to 4-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Stars jumped on the scoreboard in the 19th minute when sophomore Allie Glazner, of Edmond, Okla., took a corner kick. Glazner's kick found Horner who found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
OCU struck again in the 21st minute when McMahon sent a pass into the box that found Horner. The senior from Choctaw, Okla., beat Lubbock Christian goalkeeper Kayla Wilkerson to score her ninth goal of the season and give OCU a 2-0 lead.
In the 42 minute, McMahon sent a cross into the box that found Worsham. The forward from Edmond, Okla., headed the ball past Wilkerson to stretch the Stars' lead to 3-0.
OCU was awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute. McMahon took advantage and scored her 16th goal of the season to push the OCU lead to 4-0.
Worsham scored her 15th goal of the season in the 72nd minute when she corralled a loose ball in the box and beat Wilkerson to make the score 5-0 in favor of OCU.
Lubbock Christian's Coree Chidree put the Lady Chaps on the board in the 81st minute to make the score 5-1.
McMahon capped the scoring in the 83rd minute when she took a long pass from junior Ariel Bayatfar, of Ada, Okla. The forward from Oklahoma City put the ball in the back of the net to give OCU the 6-1 victory.
Junior goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold, of Oklahoma City, and Alissa Reed, of Fort Worth, Texas,  split time between the posts. Each made two saves in 45 minutes of work.
The Stars will return to action in their final home match of the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at Stars Field.
