ALEXANDRIA, La. – Oklahoma City University routed LSU-Alexandria 11-0, 8-0 on Tuesday at Lady General Field.
The Stars, ranked 10th in NAIA softball, improved their record to 13-3. OCU cranked 21 hits while allowing only seven during its doubleheader sweep.
In the first game, OCU plated six runs during the fourth. OCU chased LSU-Alexandria starting pitcher Jamie Gradney after 3.1 innings.
Nathalie Timmermans went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and her second home run of the year for the Stars. Tori Joyner was 2-for-5 with a double and five runs driven in, while Lily LaVelle went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
LaVelle, a junior from Bridge Creek, Okla., shut out LSU-Alexandria on three hits in five innings. LaVelle moved to 6-2 on the year.
In the second game, the Stars notched six runs in the sixth. LaVelle led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, driving in three runs and nailing her fifth homer. Kylee Rounsaville went 2-for-3 with an RBI for OCU.
A.J. Woodward allowed four hits in six scoreless innings. Woodward, a junior from Menifee, Calif., upped her record to 6-1.
OCU takes on Grand View (Iowa) at 1:30 p.m. and Georgetown (Ky.) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hattiesburg, Miss.
