OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Lily LaVelle captured Sooner Athletic Conference softball player of the week for Feb. 21-27.
LaVelle, a junior from Bridge Creek, Okla., batted .667 (4-for-6) with a double and a home run for a 1.333 slugging percentage in wins over Southern Nazarene. She had two runs and four RBIs. She also won the second game of the doubleheader in the circle for OCU.
Against SNU, LaVelle nailed the go-ahead homer in the top of the seventh inning, then pitched the bottom of the inning to take a save.
LaVelle notched her first SAC player of the week honor after being recognized twice as SAC pitcher of the week previously.
The Stars take on Mid-America Christian in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Jack Allen Field in Oklahoma City.
