Stars shut out Rogers State 1-0 to advance to SAC Tournament final

OCU will play for back-to-back SAC Tournament titles

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University advanced to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship after a 1-0 shutout against Rogers State on Wednesday at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked 14th in NAIA women's soccer, will take on Science and Arts of Oklahoma in the tournament final. OCU went to 17-1-1 on the season.
OCU played stiff defense in the first half and did not allow Rogers State to take a shot. OCU could not get anything going on offense and the half ended with a score of 0-0.
The Stars got on the scoreboard first in the 66th minute when sophomore Meghan McMahon's cross found fellow sophomore Blerta Rashica. Rashica scored her 13th goal of the season to make the score 1-0.
OCU continued to play stifling defense and only allowed three shot from Rogers State in the second half to pull out the 1-0 win.
Sophomore goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time in goal and combined for the shutout. The Stars defense did not allow Rogers State any shots on goal on the match.
The Stars outshot Rogers State 12-3 and put eight shots on goal. Rogers State goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin made seven saves for the Hillcats.
OCU will play for its second straight SAC Tournament title against USAO at 6 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
