OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University hosts a first-round match in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament after its win Tuesday to take the regular-season league title.
OCU will host Lubbock Christian (Texas) at noon Saturday at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked 15th in the NAIA, clinched their 11th SAC title with a 3-1 victory over 23rd-ranked Southern Nazarene on Tuesday. OCU finished 15-1-1, 10-0-1 in conference play and earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Stars will host Lubbock Christian who they defeated 2-1 on Oct. 20.
"The women have had a tremendously successful season," OCU coach Brian Harvey said. "We knew it would be difficult to repeat what the team did last season, but they have done that winning the SAC conference again. I think they are in a good position to start post season play."
Sophomore Meghan McMahon leads the offense with 17 goals and eight assists, and junior Brenna Skillern leads the Stars defense that has only allowed 13 goals on the season.
OCU added to its previous league titles in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010. The Stars also clinched a berth in the NAIA Championship Opening Round on Nov. 19.
