OCU knocks off Lubbock Christian 2-1 on the road

Stars move to 11-1-1, 6-0-1 in SAC play

Hollis St. John scored her first goal of the season in the 2-1 victory.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma City University women's soccer picked up a 2-1 road victory against Lubbock Christian (Texas) Thursday at LCU Soccer Field.
With the win the Stars, ranked 15th in the NAIA, move to 11-1-1 on the season and 6-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Stars jumped on top in the 43rd minute when sophomore Meghan McMahon found junior Sheridan Horner for her sixth goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
OCU took six shots in the first half and put two shots on goal.
LCU drew even in the 63rd minute when Jordin Farris was awarded a penalty kick and beat sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold to make the score 1-1.
The Stars regained the lead for good in the 75th minute when  Horner and McMahon combine to set up junior Hollis St. John for her first goal of the season to make the final score 2-1.
Bechtold and fellow sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reed split time between the pipes. Reed made one save in 45 minutes, and Bechtold allowed one goal and made three saves in 45 minutes of action.
OCU outshot LCU 13-8 on the day.
The Stars will return to action against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hilliard Field in Plainview, Texas.
