ALEXANDRIA, La. – Oklahoma City University split a pair of softball games Sunday in the LSU-Alexandria Spring Round Robin, falling 2-0 to Alcorn State and beating LSU-Alexandria 7-1.
The Stars, ranked third in the NAIA, moved to 3-2 on the year.
Against LSU-Alexandria, Nathalie Timmermans smacked a three-run home run to left field in the first to put the Stars on the scoreboard.
OCU used an error to score twice in the second. Then Ashley Wilburn added a two-run blast in the seventh to round out the Stars' scoring.
Timmermans, a sophomore from Oldenzaal, Netherlands, went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Lily LaVelle, a sophomore from Bridge Creek, Okla., scored twice as well as picking up the win.
LaVelle registered nine strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Wilburn finished up for OCU, pitching out a bases-loaded jam in the fifth.
Alcorn State's Jennie Hatch shut out OCU by scattering nine Stars hits. Hatch struck out six in seven innings. Christine Garcia gave NCAA Division I Alcorn State the win with a two-run home run in the sixth.
Autumn Mayberry, a redshirt freshman from Mustang, Okla., went 4-for-4 for OCU.
OCU meets St. Gregory's in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
