In the second game, LaVelle threw a seven inning no-hitter for the Stars. LaVelle, a freshman from Bridge Creek, Okla., faced 22 batters and recorded 15 strikeouts in her second no-hitter of the year.
Mindy Crabaugh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., recorded three RBIs for the Stars. Howard went 2-for-4 with batting in one run for OCU.
In the first game, Amanda Howard, a junior from Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, knocked one out of the park in the top of the first inning to give the Stars the early lead. Erin Slettvet, a senior from Long Beach, Calif., went 2-for-3. She brought in Alicia Clifton with a single up the middle in the second inning.
The Stars scored two more in the sixth inning. LaVelle smacked a double down the right-field line to bring in two runs for OCU. LaVelle went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Ashley Wilburn, a junior from Gilmer, Texas, recorded the win for the Stars, throwing 4.2 innings. Wilburn posted seven strikeouts, giving up four hits and two runs to Southern Nazarene.
The Stars will face Southern Nazarene on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ann Lacy Stadium for a doubleheader.
