OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University split with Rogers State, winning 1-0 and losing 3-2 on Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, currently ranked second in NAIA softball, went to 31-3, 14-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game, the Stars did not score until the bottom of the seventh to keep the game from going to extra innings. Ashley Wilburn, a junior from Gilmer, Texas, got on base in the seventh inning with a double to left field. Wilburn scored when Amanda Howard reached first base on a throwing error by Rogers State's Jenny Johnson.
Wilburn recorded her 15th win of the season for the Stars, throwing seven innings. Wilburn posted 10 strikeouts and gave up one hit.
In the second game, the Stars scored first in the first inning. Melissa Moore, a senior from Oklahoma City, knocked in a run with a single to left center field. In the second inning the Stars scored again with Alicia Clifton scoring from a double play that Bianca Bryant hit into.
Rogers State came back in the fifth inning scoring one run and in the sixth inning scoring two to give the Hillcats the one-run lead.
Lily LaVelle, a freshman from Bridge Creek, Okla., pitched 5.1 innings for the Stars with 12 strikeouts and giving up five hits and three runs.
The Stars will face Houston-Victoria on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ann Lacy Stadium for a doubleheader.
