OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University outfielder Amanda Howard has been named Sooner Athletic Conference softball player of the week for March 23-29.
Howard, a junior from Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, had a .692 batting average and 1.923 slugging percentage in leading the Stars to a 3-1 week.
Howard had three runs, three doubles, two triples and three home runs, driving in 10 runs in 13 at bats. OCU, ranked second in NAIA softball, split with No. 6 Lubbock Christian.
On the season, Howard leads the Stars in batting average (.455), doubles (13), runs scored (35), triples (three), RBIs (33) and stolen bases (seven). Howard ranks second in total bases per game and fifth in home runs per game and slugging percentage (1.000) in the NAIA.
The Stars (28-2, 11-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) face Oklahoma Baptist at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
