OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University defeated Mid-America Christian 2-0, 10-0 on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, currently ranked second in NAIA softball, improved to 27-1, 10-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game, the Stars scored first in the third inning. Erin Slettvet, a senior from Long Beach, Calif., knocked one out of the park to left field. Slettvet went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Slettvet batted in Bianca Bryant in the fifth inning with a single hit through the left side of the infield.
Ashley Wilburn, a junior from Gilmer, Texas, threw a complete game for the Stars with 10 strikeouts and giving up two hits. Wilburn recorded the win and improved to 13-1 on the season.
In the second game against Mid-America Christian, the Stars recorded five runs in the second and third innings, ending the game in the fifth.
Amanda Howard, a junior from Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, smacked one out to right center field in the second in inning, recording three RBIs. Howard went 3-for-3 with five runs batted in. Kendall Hobens, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., went 1-for-2 with three RBIs for the Stars.
Lily LaVelle, a freshman from Bridge Creek, Okla., recorded her 12th win for the Stars, throwing 69 pitches with nine strikeouts and giving up one hit.
The Stars will face Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.
