OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's baseball team moved past Lyon (Ark.) 2-0 on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, currently ranked first in the NAIA, improved to 18-0. B.J. Wheeler, a senior from Abilene, Texas, went 2-for-4, knocking in one run for the Stars.
Sammy Lee, a senior from Ninnekah, Okla., went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored both runs in the game.
The Stars scored one run in the first inning. Lee singled to right field and then advanced to third on a passed ball by the Lyon catcher. Wheeler reached first on an error by the third baseman and Lee scored.
OCU recorded their second run in the eighth inning. Lee singled and scored on a base hit up the middle from Wheeler.
Justin Harper, a junior from Phoenix, threw 7.2 innings for the Stars and recorded the win. Harper threw 88 pitches with 56 strikes and seven strikeouts. Brad Riddle, a junior from Bethany, Okla., recorded the save for OCU throwing 1.1 innings.
The Stars will face Iowa Wesleyan on Monday at 2 p.m. at Jim Wade Stadium.
