OKLAHOMA CITY – Some gutsy plays and a bounce-back rally gave Oklahoma City a 12-11 win over No. 21 Texas Wesleyan on Saturday.
Â
After the Rams rallied for four runs in the top of the eight to take an 11-10 lead, the Stars got off the deck and literally stole one from TWU.
Eli Hill had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth and
Jack Johnson stole home as the TWU pitcher was making a pickoff move to first base for the final margin.
Â
Brittain Brewer was five for five with four RBIs to lead OCU.
Â
The Stars scored the first four runs of the game in the first inning on an RBI single by
Brittain Brewer, a pair of run-scoring wild pitches and a run-scoring error. Brewer added a two-run single in the second.
Â
After falling behind 7-6,
Cooper Holtorf deposited a game-tying home run to left in the fourth.
Â
Aiden Alexander had a two-run single in the fifth and Brewer got his fourth RBI of the game in the seventh.
Â
Joining Brewer with multiple hits were Johnson, Alexander and
Trent Baker. OCU had 16 hits for the game.
Â
Nick Anaya (3-0) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Â
The Stars return to action on Tuesday, hosting Friends at 3 p.m.
