CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma City University took a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader from USAO on Tuesday at Bill Smith Ballpark.
The Stars improved to 6-0, 4-0 in the SAC. OCU is ranked seventh in NAIA softball.
In the first game, Amanda Howard led off the game with a home run over the center-field wall. Laurin Hess added an RBI base hit in the first inning. In the second, Melissa Moore drove in a run with a base hit, and Mindy Crabaugh had a two-run single.
Crabaugh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Hess, a junior from Edmond, Okla., and Slettvet, a senior from Long Beach, Calif., were each 2-for-4.
Ashley Wilburn notched 13 strikeouts and allowed one run on five hits in 6.2 innings to pick up the victory. Wilburn improved to 3-0.
In the second game, Lily LaVelle earned her first win as a Star by striking out six and allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. LaVelle added a two-run double in the second to help her cause.
Hess drove in two runs with a single to key a three-run first. Howard drove in four with a sacrifice fly in the third and a three-run double in the fourth.
Crabaugh went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in, and Kendall Hobens scored three runs.
