Crabaugh notches 999th win 13-3 over Missouri Valley

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled past Missouri Valley 13-3 on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium, giving OCU baseball coach Denney Crabaugh his 999th career win.

The Stars booked 12 hits and 12 RBIs, knocking out two home runs. OCU, ranked second in the NAIA by Collegiate Baseball, improved to 13-0 on the season.

Brent Weaver, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Weaver homered in the fourth inning, knocking in three runs of a seven-run inning.

Jason Machado, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., went 2-for-3, batting in two runs. Machado knocked out a home run to left-center field in the fifth inning, giving the Stars 9-3 lead. Kirk Walker, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif., went 2-for-4, scoring two runs with two RBIs.

Michael Bryant, a senior from Sperry, Okla., threw five innings for the Stars, giving up three hits, three runs and recording the win. Zac Tidholm, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., and Zac Coplon, a sophomore from Claremore, Okla., both threw one inning for the Stars, both recording two strikeouts.

The Stars ended a nine-inning game in the bottom of the seventh with a 10-run lead.

Crabaugh has built the winningest baseball program in the nation over the past 10 years, leading OCU to an unprecedented 10 50-win seasons in a row. The Stars advanced to the NAIA championship game four consecutive times in 2002-05, culminating in the 2005 national title. He is an Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association and NAIA hall of famer.

OCU will face Bacone on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Muskogee, Okla.
