Anthony Michael has started off strong in the 2008-09 golf season, winning two of the three tournaments Oklahoma City University has participated in. 

With his play, Michael has played an instrumental role in securing a second-place ranking in the NAIA for the Stars.

Michael also won the U.C. Ferguson Orthopedic Associates Classic on Oct. 7. After four playoff holes, he buried a 30-foot birdie putt on the fifth playoff hole to defeat Michael Loppnow of Wayland Baptist.

Loppnow had defeated Michael in a playoff for the NAIA Region VI individual championship last season. Michael was also disqualified from last year’s U.C. Ferguson Classic for playing his teammate’s ball.

“He made the putt when he needed it,” OCU coach Kyle Blaser said of Michael’s performance. “He struck the ball well all week, but he didn’t putt well. His ball striking was unbelievable, but he needs to just get his putting going.”
